This lot is made of woollen blend fabric in two tones of blue and one of green, with overchecks of yellow and red. The edges of the fabric are unfinished.
This is a plaid, rather than a more modern structured kilt. With a
traditional plaid the fabric is wound around the body and pleated to
form the skirt part and the remainder of the fabric is used over the
wearer’s body. As a flat piece of warm fabric this could also be used
as a blanket. This version is part way between the two; the kilt part
has been pleated onto a wide cotton band so that this can be tied in
place and speeds up the dressing of the large crowds seen on Braveheart.
In the film Highlander, Christopher Lambert plays Highlander Connor McLeod the immortal battling to be the one.
